“C.T.Hsu + Associates has been charged with rebuilding the school on the existing campus. The plans are innovative with a true feel for the community that surrounds it…the firm does an excellent job of massaging plans to fit the [budget] without losing the integrity of the original concept…”
Mount Dora High School
Our master plan for Mount Dora High School merged two school campuses across a city street, linking them by the first-of-its-kind high school pedestrian bridge in Central Florida.
A former elementary school on the west side of the street was demolished to construct the new high school’s academic buildings; two-story brick structures connected by upper-level canopied walkways that overlook landscaped and hardscaped courtyards. This plan allowed the existing high school to fully function on the east side of the street during the construction of the new buildings.
Staff and students relocated to the new academic buildings once construction was complete, and the old west side campus was demolished to make room for a new performing arts center, wellness facility, gym, and parking. Community use of the performing arts center and athletic facilities was central to the overall layout of the high school.
