Principal / Senior Project Manager

Jim Hughes has more than 28 years of experience in the development, master planning, design, and construction of public and private projects.  Currently, he is the firm’s senior project manager for architecture and planning for the $180 million expansion of Airsides 1 and 3 at Orlando International Airport.

Before joining C.T. Hsu + Associates, Jim served as a major and base engineer for Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif. and senior program manager, architect and planner with Nakata Planning Group in Denver, Colo.  He is a licensed architect in Florida, California, Colorado and Minnesota; holds a National Council of Architectural Registration Board Certificate and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners in Florida and Colorado. 

Jim received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his bachelor’s degree in Architecture with a minor in Urban Planning from North Dakota State University at Fargo, N.D.

Associate Principal

Nathan Butler is the youngest associate in the history of C.T. Hsu + Associates, promoted to associate principal in January 2007.  His portfolio includes serving as project manager for the $180 million expansion of Airsides 1 and 3 at Orlando International Airport and $10 million Valencia Community College Criminal Justice Institute which earned a design excellence award from the American Institute of Architects, Orlando Chapter.

Nathan holds national accreditation in the U.S. Green Building Council’s “Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design” (LEED) program and leads the firm’s efforts to promote sustainable design principles.  He serves on the boards of directors for the American Institute of Architects Florida Association and Orlando Chapter, where he is a recipient of the President's Award for exemplary service and dedication to the chapter and the profession of architecture and the Young Architects Forum Achievement Award for consistently demonstrating excellence and exceptional promise, strong leadership qualities and community involvement.

Nathan earned a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech in 1995 and his Bachelor of Design degree from the University of Florida in 1992.  He joined the firm in 2000.
